The house on the hill

October 30th, 2006

Such a good weekend. Today Camran said that if any of us could sell $300 in the last couple hours of work, he’d send us to Jamaica.

“I don’t care about Jamaica. Send me to West Virginia.”
“I’ll do that.”

I have never flat out wept at the sight of a bride until Saturday. We all started crying then, and I didn’t stop for any notable length of time until we were in bed at about 2:30 am. I was fine until Mario & Jenn arrived at the reception… their first dance was immediate. They danced to Mikey, Clint, and Sean playing “Do You Realize” by the Flaming Lips, with ten or so of us singing along with them. I think all of us were crying. It was the best ever. The rest of the evening was so much fun… then the very last song they played was Country Roads. I was a mess, of course. Many pats on the back by people that I couldn’t look at. Later, Justin draped himself drunkenly across my shoulders and preached to me about how we’d all be together again someday. People started leaving. Jenn’s sister, who I’d never met until that night, insisted upon holding my hand for a good half an hour while I said goodbyes. It was so good and I want to do it all over again. On Sunday we got to see my family, and that was much less sad. I will see all of them all together again in three weeks, which pales in comparison to waiting for someone else to get married so that all of the Wheeling friends can reunite again. Driving back here did not feel like coming home. Not unfamiliar, anymore, but not like home. Not bad, either. I need to be able to define this place and I can’t.

I will try to get all of these photos in semi-chronological order.

My mom has this snake in my bedroom and my dad doesn’t know. HA. I would now like to have a snake AND a dog. She is so adorable. I put her on my neck to freak Mikey out and she slithered around my necklace. Aw.

Rehearsal dinner:

Myself and miss Kelly Strauttmann, who I danced with for hours, as planned.

Dallas listening intently.

Showing affection?

Campbell basement for reception song practice:

Working on the backing track.

Practice makes (semi) perfect.

Receptioning:

Mario & his mom.

Sister Kelly & brother Jake.

Valentines.

They’re next.

Bridal moves.

The band formerly known as Hawthorne.

Bethany’s boob-grab looks much more natural than mine.

Geoffrey lovin’ some Brian Pennington dj skills.

Late…

Angles.

You can’t outdance this girl. We all tried, and she won.

This is about how we all looked when the fat lady sang. Great night.

The end. Time to go craft with my ben franklin purchases.
